GLASS NEGATIVES DRYING ON THE WINDOWSILL – Sierra Nelson

An amusing detail once noticed is riveting.
A hand is brandishing a leg of ham!

His green shoes were fantastic and covered in jewels.
She returned to us the following year, 100 years older.

A boy asleep on his books.
No one turned in alarm as my tears fell on the table.

The exhibition was crowded with visitors but they were nowhere to be seen.
The sound of ice cracking in the color of her eyes.

Only objects static for a minute leave a clear image on the plate.
Your face leaned in.

I held your breath.
The room in excruciating detail.

What am I?

Bioluminescent eye
That sees by the shine
Of its own light. Lies

Blind me. I am the seventh human sense
And my stepchild,
Consequence;

Scientists can't find me.

Januswise I make us men;
Glamour
Was my image then—

Remind me:

The awful fall up off all fours
From the forest
To the hours…

Tick, Tock: Divine me.
