The Home of the Mighty

Solidarity is weird stuff. It belongs to no one. It’s between us. It means you’d die for your people. It means you have nothing to believe in but those people. Things used to be about the ruin porn and welcome to fold city, now it’s welcome to the Home of the Mighty. We used to live in a culture that told us to be ordinary, to be ok, to hate our jobs, to get by. Nobody was telling us to be great. Corporate advertisements told us we could be great if we bought their shit, but their shit was just that, and was never going to make us great. It’s the people we surround ourselves with that makes us great. Spekulation’s video, directed by Shaun Scott, is an homage to all that is best and worst of Seattle. Both are what inspire us. It’s not just La Luz and Richard Sherman, it’s the cops killing people and Boeing’s cutting edge technology in Gaza. It’s Kurt Cobain and the lessons in his friendlessness at the end. It’s Kshama Sawant and Jess Spear and all the people that march beside them. It’s the Northwest’s best kept promise. It’s the motherfucking Home of the Mighty.
