Video Premier! The Jesus Rehab – Mind Readers

The shot begins with a pan onto Julia Massey, the television glowing blue upon her face, her eye twitching. Some people turn to lizards, a man on the TV reports. A-Wah-Huh?!?! Then: Rock Music. In the song, we’re informed of an idea: everyone is a slave to the Lizard King. What this means can only be deciphered by watching the new creation from TJR, which happens to include a boxing match with a huge orange glove, copious amounts of confetti and so many of the wonderful faces of the Seattle creative community.Â
Dancing With Kitten LaRue

We had a chance to chat with Kitten about the Seattle scene, what she loves best about performing and where she gets her costuming! Jake Uitti: What is the most exciting part of performing burlesque? Kitten LaRue: For me, the most exciting part of burlesque is the immediate and electric connection you get to have with your audience.  Few art forms allow you to get the instant gratification of a room full of people screaming at the top of their lungs […]

By the time we’re cracking open fortune cookies, Bruce Pavitt and I find ourselves talking about Kurt Cobain and the idea of seclusion. That someone like Kurt, beautiful and stirring, at the height of world fame, needed the confidence and compassion of an inner circle of people to talk with. Kurt never seemed to have that—for whatever reason—says Bruce, solemnness to his voice.

The Monarch Drinks With Sir Mix-A-Lot

I sat down with Anthony Ray – better known as the rapper/producer Sir Mix-a-Lot – in a booth in the back of Daniel’s Broiler on the 21st floor of a Hyatt in Bellevue, WA. He’d chosen the place for our interview, a fan of fine steaks. Mix is talkative, with a steady demeanor. He’s lived the gamut from want to have, violence to security. And I can only believe that, given this history, he’s developed a sort of calm when speaking his mind.

The new [Industrial Revelation] album comes out next month… We put out one track, people didn’t seem to notice, we will put out another track and it may go unnoticed but it doesn’t change the fact that we are the best band in Seattle and if you disagree, come to a show and then reconsider.â€Â

One Super Important Question For McTuff
Monday, November 11, 2013 13:40 — 0 Comments
If on a Tuesday evening you find yourself with nothing exciting to do, you might hear yourself thinking, “I remember people talking about the Seamonster Lounge and that band McTuff – maybe I should go there.†If, as it happens, you decide to get on a bus, call a taxi/uber/pink mustache/orange flag/horse and buggy, walk or drive to the Seamonster on a Tuesday night, say, around midnight, you will see, in the back right corner of the shotgun-style bar a trio of musicians: Joe Doria on keys, Andy Coe on guitar and Tarik Abouzied on drums.
The answer isn't poetry, but rather language
