Three Songs To The Head vol. 27

Hello and welcome back to Three Songs to the Head where we share three songs that moved us, three songs we love, three songs we can’t get out of our heads! Today, we’re featuring Polyrhythmics, Paolo Escobar and Roaming Herds of Buffalo. Enjoy!

Okay. I have a soft spot in my musical heart for Polyrhythmics. They are instant dance. There is drama and humor in their music two. And this song, “El Fuego”, in particular, reminds me of a late, hot night in Rick’s in Casablanca. There is the triumphant break, the heavy bass lines and the bright horns, all orchestrated by rhythm mastermind, Ben Bloom.

Paolo Escobar’s voice could be from 1923 and Spekulation’s beats could be from the mid-90’s. What does this mean for us? Sonic blissed out (blunted? sure!) joy. This duo is one of my favorites in the city and I’m excited for more. Will there be more?? TELL ME THERE WILL BE MORE!!! Okay… I’m okay… I’ll just listen to this track another time.

Roaming Herds Of Buffalo have a new album, and the title track from this record is part kids song, part 90’s acoustic-grown pop song, part new wave Seattle silliness. Kudos to them! There should be more silliness in music. Also they have a CD release Friday with the amazing Hoot Hoots.

Much love Jake ! This track ” El Fuego” was completely orchestrated by the rhythmic mastermind that is Grant Schroff aka Suge White . Credit where do! Thanks for continuing to recognize the music that pollinates our town!
