Austin has some surprisingly indecisive fall weather: 80 degrees today, then freezing on Saturday. I didn’t expect this! Something else I didn’t expect: so many big box stores. I mean, maybe I should have because “Everything’s bigger…†but still, I can’t believe how many Wal-Marts, Targets, Office Depots, and HEB Supermarkets exist within a 10 mile radius of each other.

After reading Aham’s description of Industrial Revelation’s genesis we wanted to add band leader D’Vonne Lewis’s voice to the conversation by asking him One Super Important Question. So, D’Vonne, how, in your mind, did the band form those handful of years ago when you were a young drummer?Â

The shot begins with a pan onto Julia Massey, the television glowing blue upon her face, her eye twitching. Some people turn to lizards, a man on the TV reports. A-Wah-Huh?!?! Then: Rock Music. In the song, we’re informed of an idea: everyone is a slave to the Lizard King. What this means can only be deciphered by watching the new creation from TJR, which happens to include a boxing match with a huge orange glove, copious amounts of confetti and so many of the wonderful faces of the Seattle creative community.Â
Tumor – Joe Mundy

We slept in tents on the shore of Whiskey Lake. Dean the Marine had a brain tumor. Frozen in shock, we stood around and witnessed him scream in agony as his head exploded. Finally someone threw him in a pick-up truck and off they sped. We could see the rooster tail of dust for a mile or so. Later, the rest of us sat around the campfire eating Captain Crunch and shootin’ the breeze. We were interrupted by the call of a lonely loon rolling off the water. “Sounds like Dean.†Someone nervously joked. No one laughed but the loon. […]
Dancing With Kitten LaRue
Monday, November 25, 2013 12:42 — 0 Comments
Kitten LaRue is a performer and Producer/Artistic Director of the burlesque troupe The Atomic Bombshells. She’s also gorgeous! We had a chance to chat with Kitten about the Seattle scene, what she loves best about performing and where she gets her costuming! Jake Uitti: What is the most exciting part of performing burlesque? Kitten LaRue: For me, the most exciting part of burlesque is the immediate and electric connection you get to have with your audience.  Few art forms allow you to get the instant gratification of a room full of people screaming at the top of their lungs […]
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis World Tour vol. 7 – Andrew Joslyn

I remember an inkling of a faint dream I had last night. One of my favorite moments from the live show of the Macklemore and Ryan Lewis tour is during the performance of the song, “Thrift Shop,” where a huge mass of metallic golden confetti is blown into the air during a climatic part before the bridge. The magical part happens right after this, though: the golden confetti floats and lingers in the air for the next 2-3 songs like golden spinning fireflies. Glittering and strangely meditative. It is always a mystical period of time during the set. This memory […]
