Writing – Billy Valentine

Any word or any fraction of a word that would try to confirm a mood;
An illicit proxy; a hoax;
A photograph of a photograph of a man crying.

Billy Valentine comes from Vancouver, Washington and just recently completed his B.A. in Creative Writing at the University of Washington. Under the guidance of established poet and professor Linda Bierds, Billy submitted

What am I?

Bioluminescent eye
That sees by the shine
Of its own light. Lies

Blind me. I am the seventh human sense
And my stepchild,
Consequence;

Scientists can't find me.

Januswise I make us men;
Glamour
Was my image then—

Remind me:

The awful fall up off all fours
From the forest
To the hours…

Tick, Tock: Divine me.
